Poly fluoro ltd offers lubrite. It is a well tried, special formulation containing ptfe reinforced with other compounds, such as glass fibre, carbon, bronze, etc, which impart it far more desirable properties like rigidity and resistance to deformity under load conditions, far beyond the capability of pure ptfe. In its performance as an electrical insulator, lubrite is comparable with polyethylene, but has important advantages, like exceptionally wide working temperature range [-250°c to +260°c]. Lubrite has outstanding chemical resistance; it is effected only by alkali metals, fluorine and related fluorine compounds at elevated temperatures and pressures. It is non-flammable and impermeable to most corrosive liquids. Lubrite is being extensively used as self-lubricating slideways, guideways, wear rings and bushes thanks to its excellent nonstick properties. They come as strips, sheets, rings, bushes, custom made to suit individual specifications, in various widths, lengths and thicknesses. Lubrite has several advantages over pure ptfe. While pure ptfe is not fixable with adhesive, the lubrite overlay, with one side specially treated, can be easily bonded on clean metal surfaces with epoxy or other adhesives. Since lubrite is self-lubricating, it does not need additional lubrication. It can be run dry. Lubrite does not experience stick-slips as the coefficients of static and dynwnic friction are the same for the system. As such faster and more accurate positioning with lesser power, can be achieved. Seizure and galling can never occur with lubrite. Ultra-thin films are quite effective, making it easy on the budget. Lubrite can be machined after fixing through conventional means.
